Teaching Enterprise Project (TEP)

It is a  unique and innovative concept of training. Students undergo practice-based learning through attachments with real business centres within the campus.

The concept involves simulating authentic industry environment and facilities within the campus, so that students are trained on the latest equipment and follow actual industry practices. They have the opportunity to work on industry-commissioned projects, supervised by staff with extensive industry experience. Business students are scheduled to operate real business centres set up in the campus by the School of Business Management .

These business centres include Centre for Business Innovation (CBI), Customer Relationship Management Call Centre (CRMCC), International Business Resource Centre (IBRC), Marketing Services Centre (MSC) and Business Services Unit (BSU), amongst others. These businesses provide a platform for actual hands-on training for our students.

You get to know more people from the different courses and aslo learnt about the courses that they take. This will make students to have more circle of friends and be comfortable when working with stranges.

Industrial Placement Projects (IPP)

IPP is an attachment that usually last for 10 weeks.

Students from the following Diplomas will be available for attachment twice a year.

• Diploma in Accountancy and Finance
• Diploma in Business Management
• Diploma in Banking & Financial Services
• Diploma in Fund Management & Administration
• Diploma in Marketing
• Diploma in Sport and Wellness Management

IPP helps students to prepre for the working  life once they graduate from school. It is a good exposure as students will roughly know what to expect in the future. Students can also apply what they learnt in school and practic them in their attachement.

This would be a fun and interesting job to do as there are no exams.

What can you do with a Banking and Financial Services Diploma?

Of course, many would want to pursue their degree after graduating from a polytechnic with a diploma. However, without this diploma, it would be quite impossible to enter into a university.

The banking and financial services sector is very wide. We learn things that are used in almost all corporate businesses. All businesses will have the need to check their accounts regularly, have someone to market their company, products and services, know how to communicate well, the basic math and more. All these have been taught in this diploma. Although it may sound like a mere diploma from a Polytechnic, the things we learn and gain are invaluable. Since we learn subjects ranging from General Insurance, to Statistics, and even Marketing Management, we are given the exposure to many sectors in the corporate world. Hence, there will definitely be a wide range of jobs available too.

You can choose to be an accountant, a marketing manager, an insurance broker, or even trade in the commodity sector.

As for me, I would love to learn how to trade in the commodity sector. It's interesting and fun, and I'd love to earn income while enjoying what I do.

Careers aside, my dream would be to travel around the world. I love travelling and learning more about cultures of other countries. My other dream, though quite impossible to realize, would be to open my own music school. As I have been learning how to play the Piano since the age of 4, my passion for music has always been strong.

I believe with determination and perseverance, all of you will be able to realize your dream jobs one day. All you got to do is to work hard towards your goal.

What we learn during our course here are such as Basic Accounting, Marketing, Business Finance, Investment, Consumer Banking and much more. FSRC is one of the stopover in Teaching Enterprise Project (TEP). It hlps us to learn more about the different financial sectors in the world. The lecturers and Tutors are friendly and helpful. They will help you to their ability.

Upon graduation, you can work as Consumer Banking Operations, Credit Analysis and Administrative as well as in the insurance company. The work scope for Banking and Financial is quite large. It really depends on what you are looking for in you work field.

Course Aims

This course aims to:

• provide students with a comprehensive broad-based business education through carefully selected core business modules; and an understanding of business process development and operation;
• provide an adequate level of specialisation through careful selection and phasing of technical modules in banking and financial services within the course;
• enable total student development through a value-added education, training and other capabilities development including developing an entrepreneurial mindset;
• train and develop students in a practice-oriented learning environment such as our unique Teaching Enterprise Project (TEP), industrial placement programmes and case study-based learning;
• enable students to develop essential life-long skills such as creative and logical thinking, problem-solving and analytical abilities, communication, interpersonal and IT skills; and
• develop students with a regional and global mindset who can contribute productively in a borderless business world.
